I. Upgrading to OS X Lion

1. Make sure that your installed applications will work after the upgrade

(Compatibility Chart)     (Your Rosetta Apps)    (Appleworks)

Appleworks Word Processing documents can be opened only in Pages (iWork).
Appleworks Spreadsheets can be opened only in Numbers (iWork).
Appleworks Presentations can be opened only in Keynote (iWork).
Appleworks Draw Documents can be opened only in EazyDraw Version 4 ($95).
Appleworks Paint documents must be saved as PICT's in Appleworks.
Appleworks Databases must be saved as ASCII text and reconstructed.

2. Make sure your hardware will support OS X Lion

Intel Core 2 Duo or better (2006)

3. Run Software Update before you buy and install OS X Lion ($30)

4. Make a backup

5. Finally, disable encryption and verify the integrity of your hard drive

VII. Reasons Not To Upgrade to OS X Lion Yet

1. Lion does not have Rosetta, hence will not run PPC apps.

2. Lion does not work with Network Time Machines (USB & Firewire OK).

3. Some Intel Apps Won't Run on Lion Yet.

4. Some questionable improvements, i.e. No 'Save As,' just 'Duplicate.'

5. The is no rush, Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Works Great and Lion will get better.
